We have an Art Therapist!! Please welcome Kelly Burns to The Brave Ones team! Quite fitting as one of the guidposts we will be focusing on soon is Cultivating Creativity! Kelly, we are so happy to have you!
Kelly is a trauma-informed psychotherapist who helps children, adults and families to find ways to use the arts to enhance resilience, self-regulate, form healthy attachments and express what they haven’t been able to in verbal therapy. She uses art therapy to effectively support her client’s personal and relational treatment goals, such as improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, promote insight, and reduce conflict and distress. Kelly offers non-judgmental guidance and creative strategies to help clients better understand themselves, identify core issues, and find their strengths so that they can begin living life fully, purposefully and with confidence and self-awareness. Her clients come to trust their feelings, their thoughts, and behavior. They become, what they’ve always been, but perhaps didn’t know — creative problem-solvers and decision-makers in charge of their life choices.
Kelly is excited to be offering art therapy at The Brave Ones Therapy Center. Art therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship. Art therapy is used with all ages. An art therapy session might include, but is not limited to, drawing, painting, using clay, collage, or any other form of creative expression that is aligned with treatment goals. If you have questions about art therapy or Kelly’s services, please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org and she’d love to discuss more how art therapy can be effective for you.
